Flows.Trading is a trading interface—not a broker.
This means we only store the minimum amount of data required to operate your account and provide charting, analytics, and trading-related features. Everything else remains with your broker.
This page explains what data is kept, for how long, and what happens when you delete your account.
We Never Store Broker Credentials (API Keys) #
Flows.Trading does not store your broker API keys or secrets on our servers.
This is a core security principle of the platform.
-
Your full API keys are never saved in plaintext.
-
Only encrypted, non-reversible references are kept—just enough to allow your own browser session to communicate securely with your broker.
-
After account deletion, no broker-related data remains.
If you revoke your API key on the broker’s side, the connection stops immediately.
What Data We Store #
We only retain data that is required for your trading workspace:
1. Account Information #
Basic data required for platform access:
-
Email
-
Username
-
Authentication data (securely stored & encrypted)
Nothing else is mandatory.
We do not collect identification documents (KYC), addresses, or financial data.
All KYC and regulatory responsibilities remain with your broker.
2. Trading Journal Entries #
The Trading Journal is one of the main features of Flows.Trading, so we store:
-
Your historical trades (synced from your brokers)
-
Notes, tags, screenshots, metrics
-
Strategy performance summaries
-
Custom logs you create manually
This data is yours.
You can export it, edit it, or delete it at any time.
Upon account deletion, all journal data is permanently erased.
3. Workspace & Preferences #
To give you a consistent trading experience across sessions, we store:
-
Chart layouts
-
Indicators and templates
-
Drawing tools & annotations
-
UI preferences (dark mode, chart style, etc.)
All of this is optional and user-specific.
What We Do NOT Store #
To be absolutely clear, Flows.Trading does not store:
-
Broker API keys (plaintext or recoverable format)
-
Broker passwords or secrets
-
Your real trading funds or assets
-
KYC documents
-
Exchange trade history beyond what you choose to sync
-
Order book or market data history (this belongs to your broker)
We act as a secure interface—not a custodian, not a broker, and not a data warehouse.
Data Retention Duration #
| Data Type | Retention | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Account information | Stored while your account exists | Deleted completely when you close your account |
| Trading journal entries | Stored while your account exists | You can delete them individually |
| Layouts, drawings, preferences | Stored while your account exists | Removed at account deletion |
| Broker connections | Active only during your session | No keys stored after removal/deletion |
| Logs for security | Short, temporary retention | Used for fraud prevention only |
We never retain historical broker data beyond what is necessary to operate your journal.
Account Deletion = Complete Removal #
When you delete your account:
✔ All account data is permanently deleted #
(including hashed credentials and metadata)
✔ All journal trades, notes, screenshots, analytics are deleted #
✔ All chart layouts, drawings, and preferences are deleted #
✔ All broker connections become invalid #
(we do not store keys, but cached references are also removed)
✔ No trading data or historical logs remain associated with you #
There is no archival storage and no hidden backups tied to your identity.
Broker Responsibilities vs. Flows.Trading Responsibilities #
Because Flows.Trading is not a broker, certain responsibilities stay with your exchange:
Your Broker Is Responsible For: #
-
Regulatory compliance (KYC, AML, tax reporting)
-
Trade execution and transaction history
-
Official account statements
-
Audit logs required by authorities
-
Tax documentation
Flows.Trading Is Responsible For: #
-
Secure interface & charting
-
Displaying broker-supplied data
-
Keeping your workspace personalized
-
Providing your Trading Journal tools
-
Ensuring secure handling of personal data (GDPR-compliant)
If you ever need official trade records, audit trails, or tax documentation, you must download them from your broker directly. Your journal inside Flows.Trading is a convenience tool—not an official accounting ledger.
Summary #
Flows.Trading keeps only what is necessary:
-
No broker credentials stored
-
No financial assets held
-
Basic account info + your journal/workspace
-
Everything erased on account deletion
-
All regulatory data is managed by your broker
Your data is yours—and you stay in full control.
