When you no longer need a broker connection, follow these steps to disconnect safely and securely.
Proper Disconnection Process #
Step 1: Close Open Orders
- Cancel or complete all pending orders.
- Resolve any partial fills or pending transactions.
- Ensure no active positions remain (or manage them directly on the exchange).
Step 2: Disconnect from Flows.Trading
- Go to Settings → Brokers.
- Select the broker you want to disconnect.
- Click Disconnect or Remove.
- Confirm the disconnection action in the popup.
Step 3: Revoke API Access on Broker
- Log into your broker’s platform.
- Navigate to API Management or API Settings.
- Delete or disable the API key used for Flows.Trading.
- Confirm revocation is complete.
Important: Always revoke API keys on the exchange side after disconnecting from Flows.Trading. This ensures no residual access remains.
Data Retention After Disconnection #
Trading History:
- Remains in your Trading Journal for analysis and record-keeping.
- Past trades are not deleted when you disconnect a broker.
Account Information:
- Connection-specific data (balance, positions) is removed.
- No longer displays in the Accounts panel.
Charts and Analysis:
- Saved layouts, indicators, and drawing tools remain available.
- You can still view historical charts from that broker.
Security Considerations #
Immediate Revocation:
- API access stops immediately upon key deletion on the exchange.
- No further data or trading requests can be made.
Session Cleanup:
- Active trading sessions terminate automatically when you disconnect.
- Any pending API calls are cancelled.
Data Security:
- No sensitive credentials (API keys, secrets) are stored after disconnection.
- All connection data is cleared from the platform.
