The Watchlist is your personal market tracker — a curated list of symbols you monitor or trade most often.
From here, you can switch charts, open new windows, and organize assets from multiple brokers in one place.
Flows.Trading lets you create, name, and manage multiple watchlists, so you can separate different strategies or asset classes with clarity.
1. Why Multiple Watchlists Matter #
A single watchlist can get crowded fast. That’s why you can create as many as you need — each representing a different perspective or trading focus.
For example:
-
Day Trading: BTCUSDT, ETHUSDT, SOLUSDT — short-term setups.
-
Swing & Long-Term: indices, commodities, macro assets.
-
Broker-specific: one list per connected broker.
-
Strategy views: assets filtered by volatility, trend, or signal strength.
💡 Tip: Each watchlist is independent, so switching from one to another keeps your workspace organized without losing your saved symbols.
2. Creating, Editing & Selecting Watchlists #
At the top of the Watchlist panel, click the dropdown menu (▼ next to the current watchlist name).
From there, you can:
-
Create a new watchlist…
Opens a dialog to name your new list (e.g. “Top Crypto”, “US Stocks”). -
Edit watchlist…
Rename your current watchlist. -
Delete watchlist…
Remove the current watchlist (you’ll be asked to confirm).
Once created, watchlists are stored locally — switching between them updates the visible list instantly.
💡 Example: Create “Top Crypto” for active crypto pairs, and “Equities” for your stock symbols connected via Alpaca.
3. Adding Symbols to a Watchlist #
Use the “+ Add symbol” button at the top of the Watchlist to expand the Symbol Browser.
You’ll first choose a broker, then a symbol from that broker’s available markets.
The browser displays a searchable and sortable list with columns such as:
-
Symbol
-
Broker
-
Exchange
-
Category (e.g., crypto, stock, ETF)
-
Description
You can:
-
Type in the filter fields to search quickly.
-
Click + next to any symbol to add it to the active watchlist.
-
Click Go back to return to your list.
💡 Tip: You can mix symbols from different brokers within the same watchlist — perfect for multi-market scanning.
4. Reordering & Removing Symbols #
Each symbol row in your watchlist can be:
-
Dragged up or down to reorder.
-
Removed instantly by clicking the trash can icon on the right.
Reordering helps you group assets by priority (e.g., “core” symbols on top).
Note: Changes are saved automatically — no need to confirm or save manually.
5. Interacting with Charts #
Your watchlist is directly connected to the Charting Space — selecting or opening a symbol updates your workspace in real time.
| Action | Result |
|---|---|
| Click a symbol | Loads it into the current active chart |
| Right-click a symbol → Select | Same as click — replaces the active chart’s instrument |
| Double-click a symbol | Opens the symbol in a new chart tab |
| Right-click → Open in new window | Opens a new chart tab for that symbol |
💡 Tip: Combine this with the Multi-Chart Layout feature to compare assets side-by-side — one click from your Watchlist.
6. Context Menu Overview #
Right-clicking anywhere on the Watchlist opens a context menu with options:
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Add a new symbol… | Opens the symbol browser (same as + button) |
| Create a new watchlist… | Starts a new list with a custom name |
| Edit watchlist… | Rename or manage the active list |
This gives you quick access to all key watchlist management tools without leaving the panel.
7. Connecting Brokers and Exchanges #
When browsing for symbols to add, Flows.Trading lists all connected brokers — such as Binance, Coinbase, Kraken, Bitget, OKX, Alpaca, etc.
Each broker provides its own supported instruments (crypto, stocks, indices).
💡 Tip: You can maintain watchlists that combine instruments from different asset classes and brokers, giving you one unified view of your trading universe.
8. Practical Example #
Let’s create a watchlist for cross-market analysis:
- Open the Watchlist dropdown → Create a new watchlist → name it Cross Market.
- Click + Add symbol, choose Binance, then add BTCUSDT and ETHUSDT.
- Click Go back, then add Alpaca → AAPL and SPY.
- Reorder your symbols: crypto first, equities below.
- Double-click BTCUSDT to open it in a new chart; click AAPL to load it into your current chart.
You’ve just created a multi-broker, multi-asset watchlist ready for quick analysis and execution.
9. Quick Reference #

10. Best Practices #
-
Organize by purpose: separate lists for day trading, swing setups, or research.
-
Name clearly: “Top Crypto”, “Equities – Tech”, “ETF Rotation”, etc.
-
Keep it lean: 10–20 symbols per list keeps navigation fast and focused.
-
Review regularly: remove inactive or illiquid assets to stay current.
